Mary Joann Smethers

  Mary Joann Smethers, 60, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013. Mary was born September 11, 1953, in Cleburne, Texas, to Cora Bell and Lewis Bynum Hankins.

  Mrs. Smethers was a dietician working in schools and nursing homes most of her career.

  Mary was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Joyce Dunagan; and a brother, Audrey Hankins.

  Survivors include her husband, Jimmy; daughters, Melissa “Misty” Switzer and husband, Arthur, Michelle Smethers and Jason, and Jennifer Taylor and husband, Randy; seven grandchildren, Jessica, Christopher, Morgan, Hailey, Brady, Dustin, and Michael; great grandson, August; sister, Margaret Hankins; brother, Jeff Hankins and wife, Lisa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

  A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in Curtis Cemetery. Visitation is from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
