Mary Francis “Pat” Casteel, a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister, passed from this life to meet her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 16, 2026, at the age of 92.
She was born November 12, 1933, in Nashville, Tennessee, to James Casteel and Catherine Skinner Casteel. On July 1, 1951, Pat married the love of her life, Walker “Dub” Casteel, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and enduring love - sharing nearly 75 years of marriage.
For many years, Pat worked in food service for Wichita Falls ISD. She found great joy in her role as a mother and deeply loved raising her boys. She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished every opportunity to spend time with her family, creating lasting memories that will be treasured for generations.
Pat was a warm, sweet, and nurturing woman - a quiet yet mighty presence in the lives of those around her. She loved the Lord and her family without reserve, living humbly and welcoming everyone with open arms and often a hot plate of food. A faithful member of The Word at Lakeside Church of God in Lakeside, Texas, anyone blessed enough to know her was undoubtedly loved, cherished, and lifted in prayer by her.
In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her Mom and Dad, Catherine and James Casteel; her son, Carroll Mannon Casteel; her daughter-in-law, Barbara Casteel; her siblings, Joe Clyde Casteel, Junior Casteel, Eloise Foster, Billy Casteel, and Johnny Casteel; and her great grandson, Benjamin.
Pat leaves behind many who will cherish her memory, including her husband of nearly 75 years, Walker Abe “Dub” Casteel of Weatherford, Texas; her sons, Billy Wayne Casteel, Ronald “Ron” Casteel and wife, Terry, and Tom Casteel and wife, Cindy; her daughter-in-law, Minnie Casteel; her grandchildren, Michelle Harris and her husband, Josh, Matthew Casteel and his wife, Jessica, Jonathan Casteel and his wife, Melissa, Phillip Casteel and his wife, Dana, Nathanael Casteel and his wife, Courtney, Chris Casteel and his wife, Sydney, Kim Brown, Cortney Newman and her husband, David, Paul Casteel and his wife, Amanda, Jamie Vongchanh and her husband, VC, and Nick Casteel and his wife, Catherine; numerous great-grandchildren, Jackson, Hayden, Bennett, Allison, Johnathan, Sierra, Alaina, Brennan, Cooper, Addison, Asher, Caleb, Isaiah, Christian, Tai, Tori, and Triniti; and her sister, Edna Tadlock.
To many, she was known as Mary, Sis. Casteel, Mrs. Casteel, Pat, Sister, Momma, and Grandma - each name reflecting a life poured out in love and service to others. Yet her family finds peace in knowing that she has now received the most meaningful welcome of all: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
She will be missed by many, forgotten by none, and, through the faith she lived so faithfully, her loved ones hold to the hope of being reunited with her again.
Though no public services will be scheduled, her family will continue to honor her legacy and remember her with love.
“Pearl, pearl, what a girl she was.”
