Katy Irene Stroud

Katy Irene (Miller) Stroud, age 95, went home to be with her Lord on July 9, 2023, just three days shy of her 96th birthday. Irene was born on July 12, 1927, in Denton, Texas to John Roy Miller and Olphia Mae Spann Miller. She was one of 12 children.

Irene married Acey Arthur Stroud on April 15, 1944, in Granbury, Texas. She was a homemaker and mother of 3 children. She was a member of the Weatherford Garden Club and loved to work in the garden. Irene loved to fish and did so as often as possible. She lived most of her life in Weatherford.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Acey, in July 1999; her oldest daughter, Janie Burrows, in May 2022; and her oldest grandson, Wesley Maresh, in 2002.

Irene is survived by her daughter, Linda Housden (Ronny) of Denton and her son, Richard Stroud (Janice) of Granbury; grandchildren: Sallie Maresh, Jenny Wolzen, Toby Stroud (Jill) and Lacey Looper (Tyler); great grandchildren: Cody Maresh, Micah Trueblood, Brittany Pryor (Colby), Isaac Stroud, Isabelle Stroud, Abigail Looper, Titus Looper, Ethan Looper, Owen Looper, and Anna Looper; great-great granddaughter, Layne Pryor; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086.

A graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 17, 2023, at the East Greenwood Cemetery, in Weatherford, Texas.
