Karen Parten Villarreal, 57 going on 28, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, March 20th, following a protracted struggle with uterine cancer that began in November of 2004.
Karen was a Houston native but lived in the Fort Worth area since 1975; an active member of the Church of Christ, a popular Latin teacher at Aledo High School, and a beloved mother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend, she had a strong impact on countless people over the course of her life and will be remembered for her kindness, her determination, and her laughter.
Karen is survived by her husband, Carlos; her children, Claire, Sol, and Rebecca; her identical twin sister, Sharon and husband, Mark, and children, Anya and Hol; brother, Paul and wife, Ginny, and children, David, Tal and Mattie; and a multitude of brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 24th, at the Aledo Church of Christ, 201 FM 1187 South in Aledo, with a public viewing Friday, March 23rd, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm, in Weatherford. Burial will be at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, March 24th, at a family plot in Midway.
In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted to a college scholarship fund already established in Karen's name. Cash donations or checks payable to Aledo ISD with "Karen Villarreal Scholarship Fund" in the memo line can be offered at the viewing or funeral service or mailed to Oak Ridge Church of Christ, c/o Ron Johns, P.O. Box 252, Aledo, Texas 76008.
