J.V. “Jim” Plowman, 76, of Weatherford, died Monday, October 15, 2007, at his home.
J.V. was born August 29, 1931 in Abilene, Texas. He was the proud owner of Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, a member of South Main Church of Christ, Life member of VFW, former member of several service clubs and numerous boards for the City. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias, and life member of the Parker County Livestock Improvement Association. He loved raising cattle, fishing, hunting, and beekeeping. In June of 2006 he was recognized for 50 years of service as a Funeral Director. J.V. loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and enjoyed watching and supporting them in their activities.
Survivors: wife of 52 years, Norma J. Plowman of Weatherford; daughter, Grace and Linda Gray of Fort Worth; sons, James R. and Cathy Plowman of Weatherford, and Bill and Melinda Plowman of Weatherford; sister, Joyce Collup of Fort Worth; brothers, Donald and Betty Plowman of Biloxi, Mississippi, Rea Plowman of Fort Worth, and Charles and Sue Plowman of Poteau, Oklahoma; brother in law, Jim and Joanne Coates of Weatherford; seven grandchildren, Holly Heatley, James D. Plowman, Misty and Travis Engel, Eli and Eva Heatley, Angie and Jose Hernandez, Yancee Plowman, and Reid Plowman; and four great grandchildren, Alli, Sophia, Madison and Caden.
Funeral service 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at South Main Church of Christ. Interment in East Greenwood. Visitation 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
