JR Holmes, of Weatherford, died Friday, March 25, 2011, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. JR had a 50 year career as a horse owner and trainer. He loved hunting and his hunting dogs.
He was preceded in death by his father, CH Holmes and mother, Viola Nelson Holmes; two brothers, Clarence Holmes and Herbert Holmes; and two sisters, Ruth Wisdom and Newella Phillips.
Survivors: wife, Bobbe Holmes; son, John Holmes and wife, Geneva; brother, Thomas Holmes; and three granddaughters, Desiree Aguillon, Allison Holmes, and Bridget Brookshire.
Graveside: Monday, March 28, 2011 at 1:30 p.m., in East Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
