Joyce Moses, 79, passed away peacefully from this life on December 11, 2024. Born on June 18, 1945, in Morganton, North Carolina, to Oscar and Helen Annis, as the child of an army officer, she had an early life of travels to places like Alaska, Japan, and Germany. Joyce lived a life filled with love, service, and devotion.
In 1962, Joyce married Bruce Moses, her high school sweetheart, before her senior year in high school. Immediately after graduating from high school, she followed Bruce, an Air Force airman on assignment in France, where they had their first-born child, Mark in 1966. Three years later they welcomed their second child, David, while stationed in Mississippi. As a family they traveled extensively over the next two decades across the U.S., Guam, and Turkey, finally settling in Benbrook, and later Weatherford Texas. In 1977, she graduated from the University of Arizona with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. In 1991, completed her master’s degree in social work at the University of Texas at Arlington. Her dedication to helping others was exemplified by her twenty years working to help individuals and families at John Peter Smith Hospital and Trinity Springs Pavilion in Fort Worth, Texas.
Beyond her academic and professional pursuits, Joyce is remembered for her generous and kind spirit, her passion for travel and politics, and her loving devotion to her family.
She was preceded in her death by her parents and her sister, Karen.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bruce; her sister, Nancy; her two sons, Mark and David; her two daughters-in-law, Sylvette and Tina; her four grandchildren, Mackenzie, Julianna, Colby, and Matthew; and her two canine children, Trixie and Kristopher.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas. Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate Joyce’s life, sharing memories and offering support.
Funeral services will take place the following day, Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., also at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. Joyce will be laid to rest on Monday, December 23, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, in Dallas, Texas.
Joyce touched the lives of many with her selflessness, compassion, and grace. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
