Joy Ray Lee, 73, of Mabank, formerly of Weatherford, died Monday, September 22, 2008, in Tyler. Born May 18, 1935, in Portales, New Mexico, she was a long time resident of Parker County before moving to Mabank. Joy was a self starting real estate broker, which built her office by decorating and selling the houses that her husband built.
She started several day care centers as a young mother. Joy loved small children; she sent money to the Christian children charities to help support the children of Parker County. Mrs. Lee raised her children, grandchildren and one of her great grandchildren in a Christian home making sure they attended church.
She overcame several health challenges later in life becoming homebound and unable to attend church herself.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Jean Eyestone.
Survivors: husband of 56 years, Jesse Parnel Lee of Mabank; daughters, Rita Bodiford and husband, Jimmey of Weatherford and Judy Richey and husband, Ray of Fort Worth; sisters, Bernadine Bridges of Ruidoso, New Mexico and Ruth Moore of Truth o Consequences, New Mexico; grandchildren; Michael Lee Bodiford and wife, Brandy, Shelia Kay Carr and husband, Russell, Constance Renee Cousins and husband, Steven, Joy Patricia Spettel and husband, Robert Marcus Ray Richey, David Isreal Eyestone, and Jesse Dale Eyestone and wife, Cassie.
Funeral service: 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 25, 2008, in the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, with interment in Willow Springs Cemetery.
