Johnny Stone, better known as “Stoney,” lived a full and memorable life. He was born September 9, 1951, in Ogallala, Nebraska, to Rocky Stone and Helen (Brown) Stone. His dad worked on and followed the railroad, and the family eventually settled in Amarillo. Stoney had a younger brother and sister, and his mom, at 93 years old, is still living.

Professionally, Stoney worked for Lockheed Martin for 34 years in various departments.

Stoney always had a love for horses. He won the NFR Championship three years in a row, showing his Quarter Horses, along with earning many other awards that led him to that position. He was also an avid golfer, and he and his son, Johnathan, would play together every chance they could.

A Champion Bowler, Stoney at one time considered going Pro. He also loved riding Harleys and, at one time, had three beautiful motorcycles. He enjoyed riding one to work every day.

Stoney was thoughtful, thankful, and funny. A man of few words, but when he did speak, it was from his heart.

Stoney is preceded in death by Father Rocky Stone, Wife Renee Stone, and Daughter Jaci Renee Stone.

He is survived by Mother Helen Stone, Wife Debbie Stone, Son Johnathan Stone and Wife Jessica Stone, Sister Roxie Stone, Brother Steve Stone and Wife Ann Stone.

The visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at the Galbreaith Pickard Hilltop Chapel, 4941 I-20 Frontage Rd, Willow Park, Texas 76087.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at the funeral chapel. Stoney will be laid to rest at a private graveside service at Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Lipan, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made by Venmo to @Cathy-Longley-3.
