John Lawrence Morris, 74, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 peacefully at home on the Brazos River where he desired to be. Born on August 6, 1952, in Mineral Wells, Texas to Jack and Maggie Morris.
John was a dedicated family man and worked hard to provide for them and anyone else who needed a hand up. John had owned his own company, and was a successful underwater welder along with pipe and structural. He was a certifiable welder in just about any form of welding there was. After retiring his stinger he took up being an inspector for the pipeline. John was well respected in the oilfield and pipeline industry. His career allowed him the ability to take his family on many adventures and impart wisdom that will carry on for a lifetime. He was a proud member of Victory Baptist Church. In his free time he loved spending time fishing and hunting. Above all, John deeply adored and cherished his grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brothers, Robert Wayne Morris, Joe Leon Morris and Charles Wayne Cox and his brother in law Jimmy Wayne Anderson.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Morris; his sons, Timothy John Morris, Caleb John Morris and wife Ashley; sisters, Sherry Gulley and her husband Cecil, and Linda Morris; and brother-in-law, Roy Anderson; sisters-in-law, Tammey Godsey, and Connie Crain. Johns legacy lives on in his grandchildren, Lahndyn Morris and wife Emma, Madison Elisabeth Abigail Morris, Canaan John Morris, and Joshua Jack Morris, as well as his great-grandchildren, Caleb Reid and Hattie Ann Morris.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Victory Baptist Church in Weatherford, Texas.
