Jason B. Madoerin, 53, of Weatherford, Texas, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2026, surrounded by his wife and children after a hard-fought four-year battle with cancer.
Jason was born in Iowa City, Iowa, on March 12, 1973. He was raised on a farm in Williamsburg, Iowa, where he loved to fish and hunt, always an avid outdoorsman. He was active in 4-H and lettered in baseball, football, basketball, and track, his favorite being baseball as the starting pitcher. Jason worked in the cornfields every summer through high school, then on concrete construction and railroad crews to work his way through Iowa State University, where he earned a degree in computer engineering.
One week after graduating from Iowa State University, Jason married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Nelson, on May 18, 1996, and spent 30 years spoiling her with coffee, cruises, and RV camping trips.
Straight out of college, Jason was hired by Lockheed Martin in Eagan, Minnesota, where he worked on the Littoral Combat Ship project, among others. After ten years at the Eagan location, his love for aviation prompted him to apply for a transfer to Lockheed Martin at the Fort Worth, Texas, location in 2006 where he worked on the F-22 and F-35 projects for 20 years.
A modern-day Renaissance man, Jason had many interests which he would research until he learned everything there was to know about them. These included building and flying RC aircraft, fixing and making watches and clocks, researching physics, RV camping, trap shooting, hunting, reloading, and most recently fly fishing and investigating AI including its impacts. In 2015, Jason earned his master's degree in pastoral counseling from Liberty University.
Jason put his faith in Jesus Christ first and his family a very close second. He spent many hours watching dance recitals and football games and served as the chaplain for Boy Scouts of America Troop 75. His happiest moments were spent spending time with and helping his children, from moving and hanging curtains to engine swaps.
Jason is survived by his wife, Bonnie; his children, Roman and wife Rosie, and Raegan and fiancé Elijah Pendergast; his parents, Duane and Diane Madoerin; his sister and brother-in-law, Tonya and Bruce Franken; nieces, Hannah (Jordan) Dyck, Alli (Billy) Betsill, and nephew, William Franken; parents-in-law, Terry and Janice Nelson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Michael Nelson and Jennifer Kearns; and beloved dogs, Freyja and Frodo.
