Jason was born in Texas City and lived several places throughout his life. He grew up in Miami, Texas, where he and his brother Steven had many grand adventures, and older sister Tracy tried to keep them in line. He moved to Weatherford, Texas, where he graduated from high school and went on to attend West Texas State University in Canyon. He spent a semester in New Zealand, traveling and essentially forgetting about any “studies abroad” while there. After graduating with an engineering degree, he started working for General Dynamics in Fort Worth, which eventually became Lockheed Martin. He always liked DIY projects and fixing things.

  He married his wife, Jeanne, in 1991 and they had three children, Jesse (wife, Monica), Marshall, and Will. In 1998, they moved to Lancaster, California, where Jason did mechanical testing on F22 airplanes at Edwards AFB, a job that he thoroughly enjoyed. They later returned to Texas, living in Aledo for the last 22 years. He always valued being around animals and over the years, they had a variety of them; including steers, goats, chickens, donkeys and of course, family dogs. He relished hiking, being outdoors and traveling to new places. Jason retired in 2024 after working what seemed a lifetime at Lockheed. In retirement, he liked to fish and was fine-tuning his fly-fishing technique. He recently bought a motorcycle, explaining he always wanted to explore the open road.

  He had a wide taste in music; some of his favorite artists were Willie Nelson, Jimmy Buffett, Dire Straits, Jerry Douglas, Alison Krauss, and Marc Cohn. He also liked John Mayer, Miles Davis, George Strait and the music highlighted on O Brother Where Art Thou? He was always exploring new music, he recently found the band Sons of Legion on YouTube and he really enjoyed them.

  Jason is survived by his wife, Jeanne; his children; his mother, Lynda Klansek; his sister, Tracy Talambas (husband, Mike); his brother, Steven Klansek; and nieces and nephews, Kyle Klansek, Megan Bordelon (husband, Brian), Michael Knowlton, and Stephanie Klansek. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, June Byshenk; brothers-in-law, Greg (wife, Johanna), Andrew (wife, Susan), and Timothy Byshenk; and many extended family members, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
