James Shelton Phillips

  James Shelton Phillips, age 75, of Weatherford, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2016, at a local hospital. James was born December 5, 1940, in Alvarado to Shelton and Wynelle Phillips. He retired from the Army and proudly defended his country during the Vietnam Conflict. James suffered a massive stroke over twenty years ago and refused to let an impairment get the best of him. He enjoyed watching the Texas Rangers baseball games, traveling, playing bingo, bowling, cookouts, talking and joking with his friends and family.

  James is survived by his best friend and fiancée, Cynthia Haines; his son, Kenneth Wayne Phillips; his sister, Donna Phillips Walker; his brother, Jerry Phillips; and his good friend and neighbor, Lisa Patrick.

  James was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Kevin William Phillips and James Shelton Phillips, Jr.; and sister, Laverne Phillips.
