Ivan Vance Johnson, age 64, departed from this life on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. Ivan was born March 17, 1962, in Ketchikan, Alaska, to the late Ernest Johnson and Debra (Vernon) Johnson.
Throughout his life, Ivan was known for his strong will, sharp mind, and natural ability to understand how things worked. He had a fascination with computer science and technology (he recently started going to school to learn coding), along with his gift for engineering and problem-solving, especially when it came to building and repairing things with his hands.
Professionally, he worked as a self-employed mechanic and construction worker, taking pride in fixing cars and working on houses. While electrical work was never his favorite task, Ivan enjoyed the satisfaction that came from creating, repairing, and improving things around him.
As he reflected on life lessons, Ivan often encouraged others to remain close with their families, to support one another, and to take part in family gatherings and events. He came to deeply value those connections and hoped others would cherish them as well.
Ivan is survived by his sons, Shaun Johnson of Titusville, Pennsylvania, and Ivan Johnson of Seth, West Virginia; his grandsons, Wyatt Booth, Terrelle Johnson, Malachi Johnson, and Dominick Johnson; his brothers, Brian Johnson and wife, Carol, and Mike Johnson; as well as his half-brother, Bob Pearson, whom he discovered recently. Although Bob didn't know Ivan long, he will greatly miss his conversations.
Though no services are scheduled at this time, Ivan will be remembered for his independent spirit, hardworking nature, and the wisdom he shared about the importance of family. May his memory live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
