Imogene K. Clay

August 31, 1927 — April 28, 2025

Imogene Kidwell Clay, age 97, passed into her eternity on April 28th, 2025, at 2:08 a.m., at West Fork Assisted Living, in Weatherford, Texas.

Imogene was born on August 31, 1927, in Parker County, to Barney and Mae Kidwell. She graduated from Weatherford High School Class of 1944. Through the years, she was employed by General Dynamics, First Baptist Church as secretary, the City of Weatherford in the office of City Manager, City Secretary, and later serving as Municipal Court Clerk.

Imogene and the late Harry G. Clay were married on February 4th, 1950; it was a loving relationship that lasted for over 74 years. She filled her lifetime with raising her two children, Sue and Doug, being a wonderful grandmother and great grandmother, daughter, wife, sister, volunteer, and friend.

Imogene lived a quiet life in which care giving was a priority. Always with a kind word or deed, being a caregiver was the basis of her existence - volunteering with her time and talents through church, school and hospital. She loved reading John Grisham’s books, Bible study with Harry, bird watching, and what made her happiest was spending time with her family. Imogene made THE best peach cobbler.

Preceding Imogene in death are her parents, Barney and Mae Kidwell; husband, Harry G. Clay; son, Douglas Carl; and nine siblings: Glenn, Homer, Alvin, Truman, Bob, Bill, Evelyn, Mamie, and Juanita.

She is survived by daughter, Sue Bramlett; grandchildren, Gena Guignon (and husband, Scott), Saundra Bramlett, and Steve Bramlett, Jr.; and great grandchildren, Anthony Hwozdek, Jack, Tess, and Davis Guignon.

The family has so many people to thank for the care and love they poured into Imogene’s care. In Imogene’s last years, she was lovingly cared for by staff and caregivers at West Fork at Weatherford. Also, Journey Hospice saw to every need with so much love and compassion - thank you Sarah, Sheryl, and Iris. Also, the family would like to thank the North Side Baptist Church Homebound Ministry for faithfully remembering her with visits, cards, and thoughtful gifts. God bless all these beautiful souls, as they continue to follow their calling to minister to those who need them.

Friends are invited to attend a brief, simple (as requested by Imogene) Celebration of Life. It will be held at the family home at 1311 Newport Road, in Weatherford, Texas, on Saturday, May 10th, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. The family requests that memorial gifts be sent to the North Side Baptist Church Homebound Ministry.

May we all follow the principle that Imogene lived by, and that is to do everything in love.
