Ima Ruth Guerry departed from this earthly life on June 22, 2021. She was born in south Parker County October 29, 1929 to Dee and Etta (Anderson) Stratton as the fifth of seven children. She was a 1947 graduate of Weatherford High School and worked at a downtown pharmacy when she met her future husband, Vernon Guerry of Adell.
Ruth and Vernon were married on July 2, 1949, and established their home in Weatherford where they lived for the rest of their lives. They were the parents of two daughters, Cheryl and Carla, and active members of Eureka Baptist Church for over 60 years. Ruth was very proud to be a mother and housewife and participated in the school and church activities of her girls and later with her three granddaughters.
Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Vernon; a daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Todd Layton, her parents, and all of her siblings: Lucille Guenther, J.W. Stratton, Clint (Chick) Stratton, Vaudine Long, Vada Alexander, and Barbara Aubrey.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Gerald Hobson, granddaughters Haley Hobson, Jacey Hobson-Blanton and her husband Conner, Alex Loaces and her husband Taylor, sister-in-law Frances Long, and many loved nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Ruth Guerry will be held at the Galbreaith-Pickard chapel at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2021. A private family burial service will be held the following day at Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to express a very special thank you to all of the family and friends that have helped and loved Grandma these last few years.
