Hugh Murphy, Jr.

  Hugh Murphy, Jr., 66, of Weatherford, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009, in a Weatherford nursing facility. Born August 27, 1942 in Memphis, Texas, he was a resident of Parker County for many years. Hugh was a retired customer service representative for Frank Kent Cadillac and a member of First Baptist Church. He graduated from Jacksboro High School in 1961 and in 1992 from Park College at Carswell AFB as a civilian with a BS degree. 

  Hugh loved treasure hunting with a metal detector and reading about history and genealogy. He also volunteered at the Center of Hope and hosted a program for mentoring Spanish speaking children. 

  Hugh is survived by his wife, Bennie Murphy of Weatherford; daughter, Tanya Murphy of Weatherford; and two best buddies, Gary Wayne McCarroll and Dalton Robinson.

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 13, 2009, in First Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Buckland and Jim Minton officiating.
Interment: Perrin Memorial Gardens.
Visitation: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Home.
