Hubert Lee Russell, passed away on January 21, 2026, in the early hours of his 81st birthday. He was born on January 21, 1945, in Richmond, California, to Harry and Melba Leona (Hearn) Russell. Hubert proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a dedicated member and supporter of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars (V.F.W.) for many years.
In his early years, Hubert proudly served as a fireman in Plainview, Texas. Later in life he became the owner of Russell Landscape Company and Tree Farm, which he ran with great success for many years. His passions extended beyond work; he was an avid lover of vintage cars, enjoying the restoration process that brought these automobiles back to their former glory.
Above all, Hubert cherished the role of grandfather, finding joy in spending quality time with his grandchildren. In his last days, the thing that brought him the most joy was hearing stories and looking at pictures of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Hubert was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Harry and Leona Russell, and his cherished grandson, Jaxson Russell.
He is lovingly survived by his daughter, Sasheen Cooper, and her husband, Josh; his son, Justin Russell, and his wife, Brandi; seven grandchildren, Ransen Russell, Kade Russell and his wife, Mykinnley, Maddie Collier and her husband, John, Peyton Murley, Maycee Cooper, Landree Cooper, and Braleigh Russell; seven great-grandchildren; the mother of his children, Jolene Russell; and his sister, Melba Rogers, and her husband, Mike; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, January 31, 2026, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m., at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, located at 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086.
