Hortense Youngblood

  Hortense Youngblood, 93, of Soda Springs, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2007, at her residence. She was a homemaker and a seamstress through the years. Hortense was known to most as “Meme,” a name given to her by her great-nieces and nephews. Though she had no biological children of her own, Hortense was a mother to many. 

  She lived in Millsap her entire life, attended Soda Springs Baptist Church were she served as a Sunday school teacher and a Clerk for 30 years, with her husband Madison attending until passing in 2000, at the age of 86. At the time of Madison’s passing, they had been married for over 61 years. Hortense was born to Corbet and Grace Harris, in Millsap, on October 7, 1914.

  She is survived by: cousin, Imogene Cooke; great nieces, Joyce Allison and Jamey Galik; great nephew, Justin Herring; great, great niece, Haylee Herring; and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services: 10:00 a.m., at the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, Friday December 7, 2007. Burial: Dobbs Valley Cemetery. Visitation: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
