Hazel Jean Fultz

December 12, 1945 — March 11, 2025

Willow Park

On December 12, 1945, Arbie and Elvie Blevins welcomed their beautiful daughter Hazel Jean into this world. A born nurturer, her seven siblings remained close in her heart, no matter how far away in geography; they were always near.

Her precious heart was stolen by Joseph R. Fultz in 1966 and together, these two young love birds set off on an adventure that would carry them all over the world. In 1971, Hazel and Joe welcomed their first-born son, Joseph R. Fultz II. Spending time with Joey as she lovingly called him was a priority for Hazel. Whether it was playing board games on the floor or Atari, there was no moment she didn’t cherish with her little boy. In 1982, Amber Marie joined the family, and Hazel relished having a daughter by her side during the epic family road trips. Amber loved when the two of them would escape on an adventure all of their own and pass the time singing Christmas Carols in the car no matter the season.

Hazel’s tenacious unrelenting work ethic was matched only by her fiercely loyal heart. A lifelong civil servant she was both respected and admired by her co-workers and was often referred to as Mom even at work, because when you love the way she does, people can’t help but feel cared for.

Hazel became a grandmother in 1998 and she embodied that title in every sense of the word. Her seven grandkids love her so much, as she was ever present in every milestone of their lives.

Joey’s children loved the Christmas cookies Hazel would so perfectly prepare each holiday season, and Gabrielle cherishes those recipes and the tradition of gifting cookies at holiday time. Hunter and Kate were welcomed into her heart and can still hear her excited laughter over their stories of childhood shenanigans. Xander and Grandma rocked in the rocking chair as they watched cartoons together until he was so big his feet would hit the floor. (Like father, like son.)

Amber’s daughters shared so much time with Grandma; their memories are vast. Kayla could never get enough cuddle time with Grandma, and it brought Hazel so much happiness to see Kayla as a bride in January when Ray was so sweetly welcomed into her heart and family. Cynthia loved surprising Grandma with soup from Olive Garden, and Mary who was her caregiver in the last few months, kept her nails perfectly manicured with Hazel’s favorite polish in light blue.

Ignacio Ruvalcaba, Amber’s spouse showed such care and tenderness to Hazel with frequent visits to the hospital to make sure she was never without someone caring for her.

A beautiful life well lived Hazel is survived by her husband of 59 years, Joseph R. Fultz; her son, Joseph R. Fultz II and his wife, Julie; her daughter, Amber Fricke and her spouse, Ignacio; her grandchildren, Gabrielle, Kayla, Ray, Xander, Cynthia, Mary, Hunter, and Kate; and her siblings, Arlie Blevins, Mackie Hawk, Elise Blevins, Evelyn Hawk, Cecil Blevins, Donna Henson, and David Blevins.

A visitation will be held in her honor at Galbreaith Pickard Hilltop Chapel, located at 4941 Interstate 20 Frontage Rd, Willow Park, Texas, 76087, on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
