Georgia Virginia Forrest

  It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Georgia Virginia (Phelps) Forrest, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the age of 86. Georgia was born on February 23, 1940, to Willie Edward Phelps and Mattie Mae (Cogdill) Phelps.

  Somewhat uncommon for her time, Georgia built a career as an electrician, a path that reflected her independence and strong work ethic. At home, she found simple joy in bird watching, gardening, as well as quilting and sewing. Above all, Georgia treasured the time she spent with her family, and many will fondly remember moments spent watching game shows with her great grandson, cooking meals together, and going out to eat at Texas Roadhouse.

  Georgia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronald Forrest; daughter, Melissa Beggs; son, Russell Godsey; granddaughter, Angel Beggs; and her siblings, Willie Leon Phelps, Edna Lucille Berryman, Lucy Katherine Marsh, Charles Herbert Phelps, and Stanley Gene Phelps.

  Georgia is survived by her son, Jerry Godsey; grandchildren and their spouses, Casey William Beggs (Kasey), Shannon Prothro (Kyle Fudge), Georgeanna Bakeler (Doug), Justin Godsey (Marleesa), Jerrett Godsey (Hailey), and Miranda Sellwood (Owen); great grandchildren, Gracelynn Ebsen Yochum, Cole Beggs, Ridley Beggs, Aubree Prothro, Nolan Prothro, Allison Prothro, Maddox Fudge, Aspen Fudge, Aidan Bakeler, Ainslee Bakeler, Kaitlyn Godsey, Cameron Wilson, Landon Godsey, and Gracelynn Sellwood; her brother, John Phelps; and sister, Rosalee Dean.

  As we remember Georgia Forrest, we celebrate a life well lived. Though no formal services are scheduled at this time, she will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
