Gary Shahan

Gary Michael Shahan departed this life February 26, 2012. Gary was born in Weatherford January 6, 1956, to Yearby and Nita Shahan. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Gary attended Weatherford schools, graduating in 1974. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Landscape Architecture from Tarleton State University in 1978, graduating with honors. He was active in scouting for many years and was an Eagle Scout. Gary was an avid reader and outdoor enthusiast possessing an amazing knowledge of nature and western lore. His work as an instructor and consultant in water treatment technology allowed him to travel extensively in the United States and foreign countries. Having resided in many places, the Colorado Mountains remained a favorite. He is survived by his wife, Ping; parents, Yearby and Nita Shahan; sisters, Sherri and husband, Wade Box, Donna and husband, Steve Freymuth; nephew, Bryan Freymuth and wife, Mandy; nieces, Erin Box, Natalie Freymuth, Kendra Freymuth, Megan Freymuth; great nephew, Cade; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Graveside Service: 10 am Saturday, March 3, 2012 in Greenwood Community Cemetery. Visitation: 6-8 pm Friday at the funeral home
