Gary Dan Wilson

June 25, 1951 — November 5, 2021

Gary Dan Wilson, 70, died unexpectedly at his home in Weatherford, Texas on November 5, 2021.

On Wednesday, November 10th at 1 PM, Memorial services will be held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 595 Mcllhaney St. in Stephenville, Texas. The Right Reverend Scott Mayer, Bishop of the Episcopal Church in North Texas, will officiate and preach. The Rev. Linda Taylor and the Rev. Deacon Ayo Ominiyi will assist.

Gary was born in Lubbock, Texas to Dan. D. Wilson and Patricia C. Beasley on June 25th, 1951. He graduated from Hobbs High School, Hobbs, N.M. in 1969. He graduated from Eastern New Mexico University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Personnel Management in 1974. He worked for 32 years as a Production Supervisor for Southland Royalty Oil Company, Meridian Oil Company, and Burlington Resources. On December 30, 1972, he married the love of his life, Dana Gant Wilson, at St. James’ Episcopal Church in Clovis, New Mexico. They enjoyed a long and loving marriage of almost 49 years and raised three wonderful children together. Gary was a devoted husband and loving father to his three children, Toby Wilson, wife Heather, Casey McGuirk, husband Christopher, Megan Nebgen, and husband Jason. He was a loyal brother to his sister Jana Sebastain, and husband Tom. He was the proud Grandad of 10 grandchildren: Parker, Caroline, Garrett, Lauren, Matthew, Carter, Chase, Max, Aarika, and Colson. He will be missed so much.

You could always find Gary outside tending to his beloved yard, bird watching on his back patio, or grilling. Gary loved to go fishing and always looked forward to his numerous fall and spring fishing trips to Lake Amistad. He also enjoyed hunting proudly alongside his trusted bird dog. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, and never missed a Sunday game. Gary and Dana had many adventures traveling together and their favorite was rafting the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon in 2016.

Gary was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church. He spent countless days at the food pantry giving back to the community. His family and friends can attest to Gary’s work ethic, honesty, and servant heart. He was a rare combination of stern and silly that will be fondly remembered.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Dan Wilson, mother Patricia Beasley, stepmother Wilma Wilson, and stepfather Harold Beasley.

Memorial gifts may be given to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in lieu of flowers. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the congregation of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, the Right Reverend Scott Mayer, the Reverend Linda Taylor, and the Reverend Deacon Ayo Ominiyi, friends, neighbors, and our extended family.
