Frances Marie Payne

  Frances Marie Payne, age 79, of Weatherford, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2009, at home after a lengthy battle with cancer, surrounded by her family and loved ones.  

  Frances was born December 16, 1929, in Ranger, to Lena and Wesley Hodges. She was a retired emergency, surgical and OB nurse from Campbell Memorial Hospital and she was a very caring person.  

  Frances made a big difference in the lives of many, including several from the Pythian Home, who remain close to this day. 

  Preceded in death by a daughter, Royalyn Merritt; parents; brother, Ted Hodges; and daughter-in-law, Lucy Merritt. 

  Survivors: loving husband of 46 years, Lyman J. Payne of Weatherford; son, Jim Merritt of Weatherford; step sons, Michael Payne of Branson, Missouri, Kevin Payne and wife, Teresa of Stephenville, and Jeff Payne and wife, Jodi of Granbury; sister, Willie Mae Keoughan and husband, Pat of Fort Worth; a multitude of friends, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. 

  Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2009, in the Indian Creek Cemetery, in Mineral Wells. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
