Fleta Maxine Boyd, 98, of Weatherford, died Friday, October 12, 2007, in a Fort Worth hospice facility. Born December 31, 1908, in Matoon, Illinois, she was a former resident of Altus, Clarmore and Bristow, Oklahoma before moving to Weatherford. Fleta was a member of First Baptist Church of Weatherford, a church secretary for the Baptist churchs in Altus, Claremore and Bristow, Oklahoma. She was quite artistic, enjoyed crafts, cross stitch, painting, and playing basketball even in her wheel chair. Fleta was very involved in her church in Oklahoma, with the Women’s Missionary Union, Children’s and Music Ministries, and played the organ and piano.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jasper Boyd, a son Charles Boyd and her parents.
Mrs. Boyd is survived by her daughters, Diane Palencia of Weatherford and Beverly Traynor and husband, Lawrence of White Rock, British Columbia, Canada; grandchildren, Cheryl, Gino, Adam, Brina, and Chloe.
Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m., Sunday October 14, 2007, at Couts Memorial United Methodist Church, with Rev Bob Jackson officiating. Interment will be at a later date at Bristoe City Cemetery in Bristow, Oklahoma.
