Era Charlene Nickerson, age 88, died on Sunday, September 26, 2010, at her residence. Born October 9, 1921, a resident of Weatherford for many years, she was a homemaker caretaker for North Texas Health Services and member of the Hilltop Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Brock High School, where she played Basketball on championship teams.
Era was preceded in death by a son, Bobby R. Cardwell, and seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors: sons, Benny Cardwell of Grand Prairie, Gary Cardwell and wife, Vanessa of Fort Stockton; brother, M. F.” Jack” Tanner of San Diego; grandchildren, Guy and Lori; and great grandchildren, Travis and Autumn.
Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 30, 2010, in East Greenwood Cemetery. Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at the funeral home.
