She leaves behind a lifetime of memories, stories, and laughter that her family and friends will carry with them always.

 Ellen Elizabeth Akins was known by many names: Mom, Ma, Mother, Nana, Grana, and to her late husband, simply “Rachel.” Each one represented a different relationship, but they all belonged to a woman who was deeply loved.

 She leaves behind her three children, Don, Jason, and Kim; five grandchildren: Holli, Hailey, Chelsea, Kinsey, and Evan, and 10 great-grandchildren. Being surrounded by generations of her family was one of the greatest parts of her life.

 She spent many years working for the United States Postal Service before retiring, and some of the friendships she made there became friendships that lasted a lifetime.

 She was strong-willed, funny, loving, and never afraid to tell you exactly what was on her mind. She had a big, contagious laugh that could fill a room, and if she loved you, you never had to wonder about it.

 No matter what name you knew her by, you knew there was only one of her. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories, stories, and laughter that her family and friends will carry with them always.
