Elizabeth Jane “Janey” (Maus) Hickman
(1935–2026)
Janey was a beautiful soul, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a wonderful example of how to love and support family.
Elizabeth Jane “Janey” Hickman, 91, of Willow Park, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at Willow Park Rehabilitation Center. She was born on April 10, 1935, in El Dorado, Kansas, to John and Pearl (Bailey) Maus.
Janey graduated from El Dorado High School in 1953. On December 11, 1955, she married Jack Oswald Hickman, the love of her life. They shared 62 years of marriage before his passing.
Janey was a beautiful soul, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a wonderful example of how to love and support family. She had a generous heart and a way of making those around her feel encouraged and cared for. She treasured time with her family and enjoyed quilting and other crafts. She also loved putting puzzles together and playing games with her family, especially dominoes. She also made the best rolls and cinnamon rolls! The love and warmth she shared will be carried on by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Pearl (Bailey) Maus; her beloved husband, Jack; and her siblings, Jeanetta Gibson, Martha Maus, Larry Maus, and Bill Maus.
Janey is lovingly remembered by her three daughters: Sandra (Mike) King of Willow Park, Texas; Karen (Hebert) Palomino of Shelby, North Carolina; and Debbie (Tom) Carle of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and their spouses: Jenny King; Nathan (Karen) King; Cindy (Mathias) Duck; Kathy (Kyle) Kaufmann; Steven (Gaby)Palomino; Mark (Geraldine) Palomino; Kim (Nathan) McLean; and Matt Carle; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Janey’s cremated remains will be laid to rest beside her husband at Dallas–Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date.
