Eleanor Pearl Ball

Eleanor Pearl Ball, 91, of White Settlement, Texas, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday evening, Nov. 21, 2023, after spending the day with her family loving on her.

Eleanor was born on April 20, 1932, in Chipley, Florida, to C.A. Helms and Ruth Hobby Helms. She was the youngest of her siblings, with three sisters and one brother, who all affectionately called her “Skeeter.” She grew up in Andalusia, Alabama, and graduated from Pensacola High School in Pensacola, Florida.

After graduation while at a beach party in Pensacola, Florida, she met Huston O. Ball, Sr., who was in the Navy, and they married in Andalusia, Alabama, on Feb. 3, 1951. They had five children, a baby who died at birth, Huston O., Jr., Dural Edwin, James Mark, and Tammy Renee. They moved around quite frequently during his military career, before settling in White Settlement, where she lived the rest of her life. She was very active in PTA, serving in many positions throughout the years, and later was honored as a PTA Life Member. After having Renee, she decided to go back to school and earned her Associates Degree in Accounting. Then she discovered her true passion, teaching special education students. She taught for many years at Liberty Elementary in White Settlement ISD, and also taught special needs children in Sunday School at Normandale Baptist Church, where she was active for years, before moving to First Baptist Church in White Settlement, where she was a member. After retiring, she was active in the White Settlement Retired School Employees Association.

Eleanor is survived by two sons, Mark Ball and wife, Lori, and Huston Ball and wife, Renee; daughters-in-law, Jerri Ball and Connie Ball; grandchildren, Angela Starr and husband, Jared; Diana (Christy) Peters; Alisha Pierce; Amanda Shuffield and husband, Shawn; Emily Ball; Rachel Ball-Phillips and husband, Ramon; and Randy Ball and wife, Jill; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Huston O. Ball, Sr.; three children, a baby, Renee Ball, and Dural Ball; her siblings, Ruth Seal, Margaret Thomas, Doris Bush, Charles Helms, and Ruby Helms.

The funeral service will be on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at 10:00 a.m., at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Home Hilltop Chapel, 4941 I-20 Frontage Road, Willow Park, Texas, 76087, with burial at 12:30 p.m., at Laurel Land Memorial Park, Fort Worth. Visitation will be on Tuesday, Nov. 28, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Home Hilltop Chapel, Willow Park.
