Earnest Dolphin Rains, Jr.

Earnest Dolphin Rains, Jr., age 82, peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024. Born on June 5, 1941, to the late Earnest Rains, Sr. and Ruby (Walker) Rains, E.D. was a cherished member of his community. He will always be remembered with love and respect. 

E.D.'s journey included graduating from Weatherford High School in 1959 and later completing his education at TCU in 1968. His athletic accomplishments were honored when he became a part of the WHS Athletic Hall of Fame for the memorable 1959 Football Team, eventually contributing to the Hall of Fame Committee. Throughout his life, E.D. remained a devoted supporter of the Weatherford 'Roos and actively participated in community service as a member of the Noon Lions Club.

Professionally, E.D. dedicated himself to a career in banking across various local institutions and also ventured into the real estate industry. His impact on those around him was profound, and his presence will be deeply missed.

E.D. leaves behind a legacy carried on by his son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Melissa Rains; his son, Michael Rains; grandchildren, Austin, Zachary, Katie, and Parker Rains; as well as his sister and brother-in-law, Leta Beth and Carlos Muniz.

In addition to his parents, E.D. was preceded in death by his sister, Renerle Thompson.

A graveside service to honor E.D.'s memory will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the East Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford, Texas.
