Dorothy Hubbard Powell

  Dorothy Hubbard Powell, 80, passed away earlier this week.

  Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 26, 2010, at First Presbyterian Church in Granbury, Texas. Born May 7, 1930, to George Arthur and Iris Evelyn Hubbard, in Weatherford.  

  She was a retired college professor teaching journalism and public relations and life long devotee to the study of written communication. Having traveled widely across the United States and abroad, she settled in Granbury for retirement. She was a long time supporter of the Friends of the Library in Hood County and member of the First Presbyterian Church in Granbury.  

  She graduated from Weatherford High School class of 1947, University of Texas at El Paso 1951 and Masters from Texas Tech University 1973.  

  She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Anne; and brother, Barto.

  Survivors: a sister, Bel Wise; a brother, George Hubbard; two sons, Walt and John Powell; and four grandchildren.
