Dona Sue Thigpen Elledge

  Dona Sue Thigpen Elledge, age 84, passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, August 8, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on May 19, 1941, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Richard and Hattie (Whelchel) Stricklan.

  A devoted Christian, Dona was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Poolville, Texas, and lived out her faith through acts of service, including volunteering at Manna Storehouse in Weatherford.

  Dona spent much of her career in the medical field, working as a receptionist and in office administration until her retirement. Outside of work, she enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting, reading, and working puzzle books - but nothing brought her more joy than being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had a special love for babies and delighted in every new addition to her growing family.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, John Darrow Thigpen; daughter, Stacy Zanretta Thigpen Hammond; her second husband, Edward Donald “Don” Elledge; sister, Lucille; and her brothers, John, Richard, and Marion.

  Dona is survived by her son, Richard Thigpen and wife, Nita; daughter, Shauna Nichols and husband, Joe Paul; grandchildren, Athena Jewett and partner, Josh, Heather Boatner and husband, Samuel, John Hammond and partner, Melissa, Savannah Thigpen, Cassie Thigpen, Natalie Thigpen, Kaleb Stevens and wife, Bree, Linzi Stedman and husband, Haydan, Erin Nichols, Taylor Nichols, and Jordan Dixon and husband, Luke; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Ashwill and husband, Adam, Scarlette Keeton and husband, Ethan, Devon Jacques, Jeff Murphy Jr., Stacy Hammond, Waylan Dillard, Zayleigh Stevens, Abigail Stevens, Ruben Stevens, and Luke Parker Dixon; brother-in-law, Billy Thigpen; sisters-in-law, Sally Carlisle and husband, Joe, Susan Jenkins, and Cindy Stricklan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

  Dona's legacy will be honored during visitation and funeral services to be held at the First Baptist Church of Poolville, located at 202 South Church Street, Poolville, Texas 76487. The visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m., and then burial will take place at the Lone Star Cemetery, 5198 Advance Road, Poolville, Texas 76487.
