It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Louis Rice, who left us on June 3, 2025, at the age of 58. Born on January 15, 1967, in Guymon, Oklahoma, Don is the beloved son of Louis and Ella Mae Rice.
Don's life was marked by unwavering love and dedication, particularly to his wife, Misty, whom he met when she was just 17 years old. Their connection was instant, blossoming into an enduring partnership as they prepared to celebrate 36 beautiful years of marriage on June 10. Together, they raised their precious daughter, Kyleigh, and Don cherished every moment spent with his family, particularly enjoying coaching her in various sports, including basketball, soccer, t-ball, and softball.
Professionally, Don built a successful career in banking, diligently working his way up the ladder while donning many hats along the way. His commitment to hard work was paralleled by his selfless nature; he was a man who gave generously of himself, always ready to lend a hand to those in need. Don had a unique ability to make the world a better place, often noticing opportunities to assist others where most might not look. His calm demeanor and patient spirit resonated with those around him, creating a warmth that will be sorely missed.
In addition to his family and career, Don found joy in the great outdoors—hunting, fishing, and swimming were among his favorite pastimes. He and Misty shared wonderful memories attending Dallas Stars hockey games, which brought them so much joy. A devout member of Willow Park Baptist Church, Don found peace and fulfillment in worship alongside his family.
Don is survived by his devoted wife, Misty Rice; his loving daughter, Kyleigh Benton, and her husband, Austin; cherished grandsons, Beckett, Brooks, and Bodie Benton; his father, Louis Rice; sister, Angela Rice; brother, Darrell Rice, and his wife, Penny; and mother-in-law, Prescilla Sanders. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Ella Mae Rice.
A funeral ceremony to honor Don’s memory will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the Willow Park Baptist Church. He will be laid to rest in Ochiltree County Cemetery in Perryton, Texas, on Monday, June 9, 2025 at 10:00 am.
