Dickie Bob “Dick” Stokes, age 85, passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, May 14, 2026. Born on September 3, 1940, in Afton, Texas, Dick was the son of the late Robert Stokes and Alma (Hale) Stokes.
Dick lived a life defined by service, strength, and determination. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before dedicating 21 years of his life to law enforcement as a police officer, retiring from the Garland Police Department. Throughout his years, he continued to work diligently in many roles, including as an insurance adjuster, security guard, and owner of a roofing business.
A man of many interests and talents, Dick was a Mason and an active member of various police organizations. He earned a black belt in Moo Duk Kwan martial arts, reflecting both his discipline and perseverance. In quieter moments, he found joy in woodworking, collecting guns and knives, and spending time with animals, all of which brought him great satisfaction throughout his life.
Above all, Dick enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren when possible. He was very proud of all his grandchildren. Dick treasured his family and the life he built with those he loved.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Becky Stokes of Willow Park, Texas; children, Lonnie Stokes, Terri Stokes, Brad Stokes, Jason Anderson, and Jeff Anderson; eight grandchildren; and his sister, Lynn Frazier.
