Dennis McDaniel, Jr., lovingly known as “Pops,” a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at the age of 69. A beloved member of the Weatherford community, Dennis was known for his generous spirit, warm smile, and the love he poured into everyone he met.
Born on September 28, 1955, in Jasper, Texas, to Dennis and Jacqueline McDaniel, Dennis built a life marked by hard work and deep devotion to family. He dedicated 42 years of service to MICA Corporation, where he was respected not only for his work ethic but also for the kindness and humor he brought to the job.
Outside of work, Dennis found joy in life’s simple pleasures - casting a fishing line, tending the barbecue pit, and watching classic westerns. But his greatest joy was always his family. Whether he was sharing a good laugh, offering wise advice, or simply being present, “Pops” had a way of making everyone feel loved and valued.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Carolyn Williams, Mae Baylock, and Catherine Price; and brother, Lucky Diggles.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Lanell McDaniel of Weatherford, Texas; sons, Dennis Lamar and wife, Mia, and Michael “Mikey” McDaniel and wife, April; daughter, Christina Griffin; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Claire, Langston, Lark, Lejind, Landric, and Lais; and three bonus grandchildren, Adianna, Enrique, and Alejandra. He is also survived by his special niece, Kinawa Crawford; brother, Harry McDaniel; sisters, Evelyn McDaniel and Henrietta Justice; and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
