David W. Smith

  David Wayne Smith, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026. He was born on September 21, 1957, in Weatherford, Texas, and lived a life rooted in faith, family, and the community he cherished. 

  David was known for his strong work ethic and dedication, having worked at the Iron Skillet and Hilltop Gas Station. While he pursued some college education, he was most defined by his hands-on work, his steady presence, and the relationships he built along the way. 

  A faithful attendee of Hilltop Baptist Church, David found comfort and connection in his church family. He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures - playing bingo, watching football, and cheering on his favorite teams, especially the Michigan Wolverines and the Texas Rangers. These moments brought him joy and a sense of connection with others. 

  Above all, David’s greatest pride was his family. He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Vonda Smith; his children, David Allen Smith and Amber Smith; and his stepdaughter, Victoria Harabedoff and her husband, Chris. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Emmy and Dominick Jeremiah, with another grandchild expected soon, and one great-grandchild, Jacob. He is further survived by his siblings, Charlene Ellichman, Tammie K. Ferguson, and James Smith, as well as nieces who held a special place in his heart. 

  He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Allen Smith and Myrtle “Myrt” Ann Brannon, whose love and guidance remained with him throughout his life.

  David will be remembered for his loyalty, his quiet strength, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the family he loved and the lives he touched.

   A time of visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, located at 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086.
