David Wade Railsback

May 27, 1961 — October 14, 2025

David Wade Railsback, 64, peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. Born on May 27, 1961, in Weatherford, Texas, he was the cherished son of John "Dee" Railsback and Beverly Dodd Railsback. David spent his formative years in Weatherford, where he developed a love for playing board games and creating lasting memories with friends and family, often accompanied by his brother who helped their beloved Papa Dodd roof in nearby Springtown.

A proud graduate of Weatherford High School, Class of 1979, David's talents shone brightly during his school years as he played the trombone in band and participated in theater. His passion for music earned him a Band Scholarship to the University of Texas at Austin, where he not only excelled but also became a valued member of the community. He dedicated a decade of service at Hancock Fabrics and contributed his skills at Advanced Micro Devices. Notably, he held the esteemed position of head of security for the LBJ Library, where he had the honor of escorting Lady Bird Johnson to work each morning.

In addition to his professional pursuits, David was deeply involved in the local arts scene, performing and directing plays at Theater Off the Square in Weatherford. He was a man of many talents, renowned as a graphic artist, stone carver, and technician for light and sound. His creative spirit extended to making wedding dresses, sewing costumes, and even running his own tailoring business at one point.

David is survived by his cousin, Shane Dodd, who will cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his loving parents; his grandparents; and his brother, Dell Railsback.
