Darrell Lee McClure

January 25, 1937 — November 24, 2022

Darrell Lee McClure joined his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 25, 2022, at Windsor Court Senior Living, Weatherford, Texas, after a long battle with ALS. He was 85 years old. Darrell is survived by his wife of 63 years, Chloe Ann McVey McClure; son, Todd McClure and wife, Missy; son, Scot McClure and wife, Stephanie; son, Darryn McClure and wife, Cameron; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and one brother.

Born in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to Mollie Elizabeth (Venable) McClure and Samuel Jefferson McClure on January 25, 1937.

Graduated Anadarko, Oklahoma High School in 1955. Graduated Oklahoma University in 1960. Received Master Degree in Psychology, Texas Tech. Received counseling certificate from West Texas State University. Received C.L.U. Degree in 1972.

Became high school science teacher in Lubbock, Texas from 1960-1967. Was counselor at Plainview High School from 1967-1972. Moved to Fort Worth, Texas in 1972 and was a General Agent for Guarantee Mutual Life Insurance Company. Worked in insurance until 1987. Was counselor at Grand Prairie High School, Texas 1988 and counselor at Crowley High School from 1989-1996. Became ill with ALS in 2013.

Other areas of service include: Served in various Baptist Churches as part-time music leader; Sunday school teacher since he was 16, where he taught 11-year-old boys. He continued serving as deacon since 1971 to serve His Lord Jesus Christ all his adult life. 

Darrell was a devoted Christian, Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather. He was a friend to all and a generous heart for those in need. Even during a very long battle with ALS, Darrell never complained about his circumstances and was always willing to counsel and share the love of Jesus Christ with everyone.

A private memorial service will be held in December.

In lieu of flowers, Darrell specifically requested donations be sent to the ALS Foundation.
