Darlene Helen Woodruff

Darlene Helen Mader Woodruff, 89, of Weatherford, passed away on February 5, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.

Darlene Helen Woodruff was born in Parker County, Texas on January 23, 1935, to John and Hattie Mader. Darlene was raised in Peaster, Texas and attended Peaster Schools until her graduation in 1953. Darlene married Bobby Joe Woodruff on March 6, 1953. They had many adventures during their marriage of 66 years until Bobby’s death in 2019. 

Darlene worked at Safeway Grocery Stores throughout her employment career. She was a proud military wife and loved to travel. The Army enabled Darlene and Bobby to travel and reside in various states and countries.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hattie Mader; her husband, Bobby Joe Woodruff; her half siblings, Claude Mader, Delbert Abner Mader, Emma Jeanne Mader, Ernest Lee Mader, John Conrad Mader, and June Juliet Mader.

She leaves behind the loves of her life: her children, Lanny Woodruff, Christie and husband, Mike Hemby, and Sharla and husband, David Wilson; her grandchildren, Jason Woodruff and wife, Amanda Brandt, Stefanie and husband, Roy Delgado, Colin Hemby, Holton Hemby, Mindy and husband, Kyle Williams, Kaitlin Wilson, and Sarah Wilson; and seven precious great-grandchildren.

Darlene was sweet, kind hearted, and loved by everyone she came in contact with. Although she was a collector of all things and never passed up a good garage sale, the things she loved collecting most were friendships. She will be deeply missed by all.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, February 16, 2024. Funeral services celebrating her life will be at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 17, 2024. Both will be held at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm Street, in Weatherford, Texas 76086. Burial will take place at Hill Cemetery near Millsap, Texas.
