Cloy Clayton “Chubby” Durant

 Cloy Clayton “Chubby” Durant, age 89, born to Pauline (Hunter) and Reese Durant, in Thorp Spring, Texas, on October 16, 1936, passed away on December 31, 2025, at home with family and close friends.

 Cloy weighed 13 lbs. at birth and was affectionately nicknamed “Chubby” by his uncle. Chubby loved fishing and hunting and spent many summers on the coast fishing with friends and his son, David. He, David, and his best friend, Doug Ray, spent many years deer hunting. Of the Baptist faith, he was baptized as a young man at Acton Baptist Church in Acton, Texas. Professionally, he worked at Jerry’s Chevrolet. Dedicated to his work, he won many awards selling cars and truly loved his job.

 Chubby was preceded in death by his parents and his four brothers, Curtis, Chuck, Cody, and Dale Durant.

 Chubby is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Ann (Young) Durant; his son, David Durant, and wife, Paula (Hawkins) Durant; daughter, Darla Jones; stepson, Paul Prather; two grandsons, Blake Durant and Dylan Jones; granddaughter, Bailey Durant (Brady Nelson); great-grandson, Nolan Beau; and one great-grandchild due in March 2026, Baker Cloy; sister, Rita McMeekin; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Lucy.

 The family wishes to thank Alpha Omega Hospice and the workers who took such good care of Chubby: Stephanie, Melinda, Haley, and Tiffany.

 A visitation will take place on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 4:00 p.m., both at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086.
