Chester L. Shirey

Chester L. Shirey, 88, of Aledo, Texas, passed away on November 10th, 2023. Chester was born, March 14th, 1935, in Alabama. After graduating high school, he joined the Air Force and served for 25 years. He married Rose Hackworth on October 9th, 1957. They went on to have four children, Steve, Mike, Cindy, and Sandra. After retiring he worked at Lockheed Martin for 10 years and then devoted himself to caring for his wife until she went to be with the Lord in September of 2002.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Margaret Shirey; brother, Jerald Shirey; and love of his life, Rose Shirey. Chester is survived by his siblings, Barbara Bouldin, Ricky Shirey (Dianne), Becky Graham (Rodney); and his children, Steve Shirey (Margaret), Mike Shirey (Lori), Cindy Williams (James), and Sandra Hackfield (Scott); his 12 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 17, 2023, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm St., Weatherford, Texas 76086, officiated by Efren Collier; serving as pallbearers are Christopher Shirey, David Hughes, Eric Shirey, John Hendrix, Stephen Hendrix, and Jayden Hendrix. Burial will follow at Willow Springs Cemetery, in Willow Park, Texas.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the funeral chapel.
