Charles (Chuck) Edward Pridgeon, Sr. died unexpectedly on Sunday, August 24, 2025, in Weatherford, Texas.

Chuck was born in Thomasville, Georgia on January 6, 1946, to Edward Monroe Pridgeon and Edna Grace (Davis) Pridgeon. As a military brat, Chuck moved around the world with his family to France, Puerto Rico, and multiple U.S. states. There are not many people who can claim to have had their High School Prom on the Eiffel Tower, but Chuck could. This broad worldview helped develop the adaptability, resilience and tenacity that would serve him well in his life.

In 1964, Chuck enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. In 1966, while on assignment in California, Chuck met, fell in love, and married the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth (Tobin) Pridgeon. For 59 years, Chuck and Mary were a team that took on the challenges of deployment around the world and of raising three children.

Chuck loved puzzles. Whether the puzzles involved repairing a jet engine, finding out why the car was making “that noise” or which corner piece was the right one, Chuck enjoyed breaking down the obstacles in front of the solution. The ability to solve puzzles was a requirement for his successful career as a Logistical Engineer at Lockheed in Fort Worth, following his retirement from a 23-year career in the Air Force in 1987.

Chuck’s favorite puzzle to solve was making things go. He raced ‘Micro Midget’ and stock cars in his younger days and continued to work on classic cars for fun. Putting his sharp mind and skilled hands to work bringing an old engine back to life brought him immense joy. He was a man of quiet strength, a master problem solver and a dedicated family man who could fix anything from a carburetor, a boo-boo, breakfast, or a broken heart.

Chuck was a loving grandfather and cherished the time he spent with his grandkids, no matter how many times Pop-Pop had to read “The Itsy-Bitsy Spider.”

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Austin Tyler Moore; his beloved mother, Edna Grace (Davis) Pridgeon and his father, Edward Monroe Pridgeon. Siblings, Richard Ellis Pridgeon, Shirley Elizabeth Pridgeon, Kenneth Eugene Pridgeon, and Patricia (McCutcheon) Pridgeon have also passed.

Chuck’s legacy is carried on by his spouse of 59 years, Mary Elizabeth (Tobin) Pridgeon, his three children: Lisa Michelle (Pridgeon) Moran and her husband, Michael Lewis Moran of Willow Park, Texas; Laura Elizabeth (Pridgeon) Moore and her husband, Richard Alonzo Moore IV of Dayton, Texas; and Charles (Chad) Edward Pridgeon, Jr. and his wife, Dr. Meredith (Hawkins) Pridgeon of Aledo, Texas. He was a fiercely proud grandfather to five grandchildren: Joshua Rhys Moran, Alexander James Scott Moore, Austin Tyler Moore, Savannah Alisabeth Moore, and Cooper Austin Pridgeon. He is also survived by his sister, Judith Guill and his aunt, Opal Ellis.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 8, 2025, at the Galbreaith Pickard Hilltop Chapel, 4941 I-20 Frontage Road, Willow Park, Texas, 76087.

A committal service will be held at the DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas at 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Chuck’s name to The Disabled American Veterans (DAV.org) or The Fisher House Foundation (fisherhouse.org).

Chuck Pridgeon was a steady presence in the lives of all who knew him, and his guidance, humor and unwavering love will be profoundly missed.
