Charles Michael (Mike) Miller, 79, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on May 29, 2026. Mike was born on July 8, 1946 in Freer, Texas, and his family moved to Artesia, New Mexico when Mike was four. He graduated from Artesia High School in 1964 before earning his degree in chemistry from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
Mike was a chemist by trade, and worked with several oilfield companies before dedicating the majority of his career to chemical engineering at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company. Mike was an expert in polymer chemistry and was an innovative researcher who developed several new and unique materials for the many Lockheed projects he worked on. He was always equally meticulous and dedicated to finding the right answer no matter how big or small the question. Mike’s exceptional contributions as Principal Engineer there earned him the prestigious Aero Star Award twice, both in 2001 and 2011, and he retired after spending 27 years with the company. Known for his analytical mind and conscientious work ethic, he was highly respected by colleagues and peers alike.
A man of many talents, Mike was a master woodworker and metalworker who found joy in creating wooden toys, beautiful wooden keepsake boxes, and furniture, and in tackling any project that came up as a true "jack of all trades." His passion for craftsmanship extended to volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, where he used his skills to help build homes and improve lives. He also cherished his time serving with Center of Hope, Neighbors Helping Neighbors, and his church.
Mike was a devoted member of South Main Church of Christ in Weatherford, where his faith guided his life and actions. Those who knew him will remember his kind heart, great sense of humor, and congenial demeanor that made him easy to get along with.
He is survived by Terri, his beloved wife of 46 years; children, Craig and wife Ellen, Coby and wife Amy, and Erin-Lee and husband Robert; and grandchildren, Mason, Morgan, Gary, Kito, and Kenji Thunder. His legacy lives on through the love he shared with his family and friends, and the countless lives he touched through his generosity and talents.
May Mike's memory bring joy and comfort to all who knew him.
