Bobby Gene Harper

Bobby Gene Harper departed from this life to meet his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at age 87. Born July 14, 1936, in Abilene, Texas to the late Hal Harper and Thelma (Chanel) Harper, Bobby graduated from high school and entered the military, proudly serving in the United States Air Force and Navy. Following his military career, he worked for the City of Weatherford as an animal control officer. Over the course of time, Bobby went to work for Pepsi, first as a delivery driver then moving up to Supervisor of Routes. There he met a minister who introduced him to the Lord and the direction of his life was changed forever, he felt the call to ministry and to share his faith. Bobby had a visitation ministry to shut-ins and to whomever was in need of encouragement; he was always headed out to see who needed to hear the gospel.

Bobby was married to the late Patsy Harper. They were passionate about dirt bike riding, often participating in the Sunday races at the Flying P Cycle Ranch, along with his dad and sons, but that slowed down once he started attending church. Bobby was an avid reader and he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons; they once set a state record for the largest bobcat. He leaves behind a legacy of faith and love.

Bobby is survived by his grandson & wife, Cody and Rachel Harper; grandson, Bobby Justin Harper; granddaughter, Shawna Langford; and nephew & wife, Tim and Norma Harper. 

He was predeceased by his parents; wife; sons, Ronald and Robbie; and his brother & wife, Fred Wallace and Donna Gayle Harper.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm St., Weatherford, Texas.

A funeral service with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Spring Creek Baptist Church, 100 Spring Creek Rd., Weatherford, Texas, officiated by Pastor Matt Edwards, with burial following at Spring Creek Cemetery.
