Bobby Joe Blevins was born on June 6, 1958, in Weatherford, Texas, and peacefully passed from this life on March 20, 2026, at the age of 67. From the moment he arrived, Bobby brought a spark with him—one that never dimmed. He was the cherished son of Billy Blevins and Dorothy Jean Cruce, and the kind of person who made everyone feel like family.
On Thanksgiving Day in 2004, Bobby married the love of his life, Tressa Lassiter, beginning a partnership filled with laughter, devotion, and countless adventures. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, and the simple joy of being in each other’s company.
Bobby spent his entire life in Parker County, where his athletic talent and love for baseball were well known. He was a fierce competitor with a curveball that fooled even the best hitters, earning him a reputation that followed him long after his playing days. He took great pride in supporting and leading youth sports in Weatherford, beginning on the Little League fields where he coached with enthusiasm and a genuine belief in every child he worked with. As his boys grew, he continued to show up—moving from youth baseball to junior high athletics and eventually serving as an active leader within the Weatherford High School Booster Club. Whether he was coaching, organizing, fundraising, or cheering from the sidelines, Bobby poured his heart into helping young athletes succeed. His steady presence, encouragement, and love for the game left a lasting mark on countless kids and families throughout the community.
Bobby spent 37 years in the aerospace industry as a Senior Procurement Manager at Lockheed Martin, later continuing as a contractor after retirement. He was a member of North Side Baptist Church, loved traveling to Major League Baseball games, and never turned down a game of 42—especially if he could talk a little smack. Most of all, he cherished being “Grandad,” always showing up to love and support his grandkids in everything they did.
Bobby was a storyteller in the truest sense. He could captivate a room with a tale, and he loved to keep his family guessing about which parts were true and which parts he had embellished just for fun. His stories weren’t just entertainment—they were a way of connecting, of making people laugh, of reminding those around him that life is meant to be enjoyed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Harrell Blevins, his grandparents, Ralph “Grandad” and Willie “Grandma” Blevins, and W.O. “Papa” and Ruby “Nanny” Cruce.
Bobby leaves behind a family who adored him: his wife, Tressa Blevins of Weatherford; his sons, William Blevins (Lauren), Westley Blevins (Summer), Nathan Dearing (Jessika), and Jacob Dearing (Casey); and his grandchildren, Harper, Presley, Jaxon, Hayden, Amelia, Huxley, Wade, Jack, and Killian each of whom brought him immeasurable joy. He is also survived by his mother, Dorothy Jean Cruce; his step-mother, Betty Lucille Blevins; his brothers, David (Yvonne), Tommy (Terrie), and Billy Blevins (Kerri); his step-siblings, Maria Ragle (Larry), Kathy Fowler (David), and David Michael Watkins (Eydie); his special uncle, Marvin Cruce; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bobby’s life at a visitation on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas. A funeral service will follow on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at North Side Baptist Church in Weatherford. Bobby will be laid to rest at Truce Cemetery, 200 West Truce Road, Bowie, Texas.
Bobby’s legacy lives on in the stories he told, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave so freely. His memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
