Billye Fern Long

  Billye Fern Long, 92, departed to her heavenly home on Saturday, January 27, 2024. Billye was born August 24, 1931, in Olney, Texas, to the late Fred Sledge and Adelle (Shipman) Sledge. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Long; daughter, Vicki Woods; sisters, Odessa Woods and Bobby Roberts; and brother, Emmett Sledge.

  Billye is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ray, Jr. and Julia Gameson, of Aledo, Texas, and Randy and Tiffany Gameson of Lakeville, Minnesota; stepchildren, Nancy Hinseh, Sharon Masten, Susan Bales, and Larry Long; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

  Billye attended North Side Baptist Church, in Weatherford, Texas. She worked as a bookkeeper prior to her retirement. Billye loved to oil paint and was an avid poker player.

  A funeral ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 2, 2024, at the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, in Weatherford, Texas, with burial to follow at East Greenwood Cemetery.
