Billy L. Morse

September 21, 1930 — December 21, 2014

  Billy L. Morse, 84, died of respiratory failure on Sunday, December 21, 2014, at his home northwest of Weatherford. Bill was born September 21, 1930, to Lottie Woodley Morse and John G. Morse, Jr., in Gatesville, Coryell Co., Texas. Bill's family moved to Cleburne in 1936 where he graduated from high school in 1949. He participated in track, football and band.  

  He attended classes at NTSC, now University of North Texas, and also Tarleton State University, before going to work at Santa Fe Railroad in Cleburne in 1951. He retired as a locomotive engineer in November, 1989. Health permitting, Bill attended Triple Cross Cowboy Church with his family in Granbury.   

  Bill is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Carolyn Wilson Morse; daughter, Michelle Morse of Monterey, Virginia; son, Gregg Morse and wife, Deborah of Monterey, Virginia, and their daughters, Taylor Ann and Gillian Shannon Morse, and son, Stefan Morse of Alexandria, Virginia.  

  Also surviving are Carolyn's children, Kay Hubbard and husband, Jay, Mike Cockerham and wife, Sherry, Mark Cockerham and wife, Lorna, and Robert Cockerham and wife, Crese.  

  Mr. Morse was also survived by one brother, John E. Morse, and wife, Kathleen, and their daughter, Betty Ann of Springfield, Illinois. He was also survived by cousins, Belva Morse Hays of Edmond, Oklahoma and Keith Woodley and wife, Donna, of Comanche, Texas.  

  Bill was very honored to have 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren call him PawPaw. They include "grands," Taylor, Gillian, Rhonda, Shelly and husband, Rick, David and wife, Amber, Darrel and wife, Sabrina, Jill and husband, Curt, Amanda and husband, Jeff, Brad, Travis J., Rebecca and husband, Jimmy, Lyndsey, Jessica, and Mikayla. The "greats" include: Bailey, Brayden, Kaley, Gracie, Caleb, Benjamin, and Jim.

  Graveside service: 2:00 p.m.,  Friday December 26, 2014, at the Peaster Cemetery, Northeast of Peaster off FM 920 and McClendon Rd., with pastor and old friend, L.C. Price, officiating.
