Bill D. Owen

July 1, 1943 — December 31, 2023

Emblem

Billie (Bill) Dee Owen was born in Weatherford, Texas on July 1, 1943, to Janell (Nell) Holder Owen and Milburn D. Owen.

His family remembers him as a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Bill was a lifelong resident of Parker County. He graduated from Weatherford High School and went on to Weatherford College, but then had his education put briefly on hold as he was called to serve our country in the Air Force. However, after four years of military service, which included eleven months in southeast Asia in the Vietnam War, he eventually obtained a BS degree in Pharmacology. He was a pharmacist for fifty years.

Bill had many talents and hobbies; fisherman, musician, wood carver, gardener, and reader of old western books. Most importantly, he loved the Lord. He was a believer of Christ and rejoiced in knowing that one day he would be reunited with his Lord and Savior.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of thirty years, Donna Owen; daughters, Katharine Owen Grudt and husband, Darren Grudt, Becky Owen Glenn and husband, Jimmy Glenn; stepson, Joel Taylor and wife, Adrienne Taylor; grandchildren, Parker Grudt, Maggie Glenn Beaird, Emily Grudt, Cole Taylor, Major Glenn, and Brianna Taylor. He was preceded in death by his father, Milburn D. Owen, and mother, Janell Holder Owen.

Our family will forever be thankful to Three Oaks Hospice and the loving care that was given to us during this time and special thanks to Nicole Lightfoot, RN, and Scott Weinkauff, chaplain, our assigned angels on earth.

Visitation will begin on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Spring Creek Baptist Church in Weatherford at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Scott Weinkauff officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Creek Cemetery with military honors.
