August 14, 1955 — May 8, 2024

Aledo

Barbara Louise (Nixon) Landry gracefully departed from this world on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at the age of 68. She was born on August 14, 1955, in Harlingen, Texas to her parents, the late Lester Nixon and Pauline (Elmore) Nixon. Barbara was also preceded in death by her brother, Darrell, and sister, Sherry; as well as her daughter, June Landry, for whom she was a caregiver for over 35 years.

Throughout her life's journey, Barbara pursued education and obtained her bachelor's degree. Driven in her career, she devoted many years to the banking industry as an internal auditor until 2006, after which she shared her knowledge and passion as a substitute teacher until her well-deserved retirement in 2016. Barbara was a beloved former member of Centerville Rd Church of Christ and a member of a social book club in her Cedar Park neighborhood.

Barbara will be deeply missed and fondly remembered as a good mother by her daughter, Erin Menking, and cherished grandson, George Menking, both residing in Aledo, Texas. She is also survived by her brother, Milton Nixon; nephews, Carl Van Nixon (Will) and John Clayton (Catherine Ann); as well as nieces, Jodi Patulea (Greg) and Dana Clayton.

In the embrace of our memories, Barbara's happy spirit will forever remain with us.
