  Barbara Jo Ferrell, passed away on June 17, 2026 in Weatherford, Texas. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 24, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and funeral service on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel located at 913 N Elm St., Weatherford, Texas. Barbara will be laid to rest at East Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford, Texas, immediately following the service.

  Born in Fort Worth, Barbara graduated from Polytechnic High School. She was employed by Texas Electric Service Company when she met the love of her life, her knight in shining armor, Raymond Lee Ferrell, Sr on June 29, 1957. They moved to east Fort Worth where they built a life full of family and lifelong friends throughout Handley Church of Christ and their Fort Worth community.

  In her twenties, Barbara was a busy mother of three children and would read books on running a daycare. She was also secretary at the church when a neighbor encouraged her to take the Real Estate exam. She passed and soon launched what would be her road to a lifetime success. She was owner of Ferrell Real Estate and Ferrell Tax Service and an IRS enrolled Agent. She sold her businesses when elected as Tarrant County Justice of the Peace and served as a visiting judge long after her retirement. She performed marriage ceremonies for thousands of couples throughout her tenure as Judge. She was commonly known as “The Marrying Judge”. Precinct #1 was busy on Valentine’s Day marrying as many as one hundred couples and welcoming those of all faiths and walks of life. She was the people’s judge!

  Barbara was appointed and volunteered for many organizations throughout her life. She was appointed to the Board of Directors for the Tarrant County Transit Authority, President/Chair of the East Fort Worth Business Association, Member of Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, a founding member of the Christmas Wish Project started in Tarrant County and has now grown to include 22 counties benefiting from this endeavor every Christmas.

  Barbara was a master of all trades with an unmatched work ethic. She was an excellent real estate agent, property manager, talented tax accountant, and bookkeeper. She was a fair and trusted Justice of the Peace, attentive counselor, devoted friend to all and follower of Jesus Christ. She was the best wife and mother to her family and so many more. She could solve a problem with her common sense and can-do attitude mixed with her signature chuckle-laughter and sense of humor. Barbara loved to sing and was in a choir with her friends from church. They sang at many different events and even cut a record, “A Beautiful Life”.

  Barbara lived through crippling arthritis, breast cancer, the loss of a great grandchild and her forever love Ray. She never lost her faith, focus or her commitment to her family, friends, and the needs of others. The world needs more like her, and I know her prayer as she passes is that she has instilled the “servant's heart” and the ability to believe if you just put your mind to it and it can be done.

  Barbara Ferrell was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Austin White, Sr and Myrtle Frances White, and siblings, Lenora Gomez, Jack A White, Jr, and Sarah Buchanan, and her great granddaughter, Ashlynn Kay.

  Barbara is survived by her three children and their spouses, Raymond Lee Ferrell, Jr. (Cindy), Dee Ann Crawford (Jimmy), and Randall Ferrell (Kathy).

  Grandchildren and their spouses include Preston Ferrell; Parker Ferrell (Megan); Melissa Crawford-Reed (Chris); Kendall Ferrell (Morgan); Kyle Ferrell; and Krista Wallen (Calvin).

  Great grandchildren include Cole, Carter, Carragan, Emma, Eli, Jocelyn, Jaxson, Addyson, Paisley, Evelynn, and Palmer.
